One of the last projects I designed while working at frog in 2000 was the intranet website.
The site accommodated several layers of information encompassing internal needs -- scheduling, projects materials, human resources information, and operations. It also has streaming news content on the front pages for the different users -- designers, project managers, administrator, etc. All of this was placed into a structure such that it allowed a lay person to quickly and easily update it with images and text.
Various elements were created and defined for the various types of information. The spotlight story text box combines text and an image. Another element created for the site was a tree. The tree incorporated two search elements -- one for the phone list and one for site information.
There were various locations where designers could go for inspiration. One of the locations was the Play menu which contained a list of links -- submitted by anyone, categorized, and posted. Another more immediate form of inspiration was a scrolling banner. It was at the bottom of the home page and contained an inspirational quote which would change each time the user returned to the home page. |
